Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria
Los Angeles July 28, 2009 Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”. -

Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part. I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts. Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August. If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production. Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production. Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story. The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project - which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment - makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.” –Summit Entertainment

Peter Facinelli e Jackson Rathbone hanno commentato ai microfoni di MTV la sconcertante notizia del cambio di attrice per Victoria. Facinelli si è detto “dispiaciuto”; Rathbone ha dichiarato: “Rachelle [Lefevre] è una cara amica, mi mancherà terribilmente. Non posso parlare del lato professionale” ha aggiunto (perché è una questione delicata e ormai ci sono di mezzo gli avvocati), “ma Rachelle è un’attrice straordinaria e una donna straordinaria”.
Peter gli fa eco: “Sono contento di lavorare con Bryce [Dallas Howard], ma sono anche molto triste al pensiero che Rachelle non sarà in Eclipse. Le voglio bene come a una sorella. Ma sapete, lo spettacolo deve andare avanti. Accoglieremo Bryce a braccia aperte, e spero che i fan faranno lo stesso.”

AB: Le riprese cominciano tra una settimana, vero?
PF: Martedi.
AB: Non vedi l'ora?
PF: Esatto. Ho riletto Eclipse durante le mie vacanze alle Hawaii e poi ho riletto il copione.
AB: Com'è?
PF: Fantastico. è difficile rendere in un film quello che c'è in un libro, si perdono alcuni dettagli mentre altri vengono enfatizzati. La storia è la stessa e ne sono felice.
AB: Qual è la tua parte preferita di Eclipse?
PF: Mi piace che nel libro si parli dei membri della famiglia e anche nel film ci sono molto. I libri sono tutti dalla prospettiva di Bella e quindi quando lei non è in scena non si vede cosa sta succedendo, come per esempio nella scena della battaglia. In Eclipse quando i Cullen e i licantropi combattono contro i neonati si capisce qualcosa perchè ne parla Edward ma nel film si vedrò e mi piace questa interpretazione del film, non sempre dalla prospettiva di Bella. Non è sempre in scena e quindi spero che in questa maniera la storia sia più aperta. I Cullen sono molto più presenti.
AB: Farete degli stunt?
PF: Sì, ci alleneremo per le scene di combattimento e ne sono eccitato. Sono un uomo, quindi mi piacciono le cose d'azione e soprattutto perchè mi piace che Carlisle faccia qualcosa di questo genere, si dà da fare. Per un attore è divertente, ma anche per recitare il personaggio, si vede un altro lato.
AB: Sarà interessante da vedere. Vi hanno detto come combatteranno, visto che dal punto di vista mitologico gli attachi si basano soprattuto sui morsi tra vampiri e licantropi? Cosa succederà?
PF: Non lo so. Ne saprò di più quando arriverò lì. Credo che David [Slade] abbia un'idea migliore su come fare le cose. Catherine [Hardwicke] aveva alcune idee su come avremmo dovuto fare le cose, Chris su come avremmo dovuto muoverci. Quando giravamo Twilight Catherine ci ha fatto prendere lezioni per farci muovere come dei gatti, per lei il mondo dei vampiri era una famiglia felina mentre quello dei licantropi era più canina. Per Chris non c'era bisogno di questa contrapposizione, per questo in New Moon i vampiri sembrano un pò diversi, più furtivi. Per esempio, se dovevo camminare per una stanza, chris mi metteva davanti la telecamera e poi era dall'altra parte. La telecamera esprime molto dei movimenti dei vampiri e non so cosa ne pensi David. Ecco la cosa bella di lavorare con registi diversi, ci sono interpretazioni diverse della stessa storia.

Rivelata la scena di apertura di Eclipse: 
I'm told exclusively that Xavier is working on what's currently intended (at press time) to be the OPENING SCENE in Eclipse. "Riley" in human form is being terrorised down an alley in Seattle pursued by a sinister shadow which turns out to be "Victoria". He cannot outrun her, she attacks him, and as you can see from the exclusive video below (from PUNKD Images) he writhes in pain from being bitten.
Major coup for Xavier, non? To open the movie? Unless of course they change their minds in post. So far however, it seems as though Hollywood's artistic interpretation of Stephenie Meyer's drivel has far exceeded the source material. Xavier's expanded role is a great example.

Kirsten Prout è Lucy in Eclipse 
E! Online ha rivelato che Kirsten Prout (già vista nella serie Kyle XY e nel film Elektra) è entrata nel cast di The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, terzo capitolo cinematografico tratto dai romanzi di Stephenie Meyer. La diciannovenne attrice interpreterà la vampira Lucy, un personaggio molto vicino a Jasper (l'irrequieto fratello di Edward). Sarà questa vecchia conoscenza ad arruolare – insieme a Maria (interpretata da Catalina Sandino Moreno) – un esercito di vampiri "amici" per confrontarsi con i Volturi.
La pellicola diretta da David Slade arriverà sugli schermi dal 30 giugno 2010.
